But those turned legs and wood grain screamed “ I can be saved!” So of course we bought her home and I immediately started cleaning her up.
So it’s so funny, my first thought was to change out that canned backsplash BUT to my surprise I had several positive comments about it so I changed my mind and decided to keep it! The people had spoken and I followed…LOL!
Next was to start the sanding which included the top, drawer, the legs and the lower cross supports. I did need to do some extra cleaning and bleaching of that ink stain and after a lot of additional sanding I was able to remove almost 90% of it. Next was to burn the top and the cross supports and then clear coat with Minwax Polyurethane. The legs and frame of the backsplash were painted in black, distressed and also sealed. I opted to keep those vintage glass pulls and line the dovetailed drawer with a fabulous plaid fabric. And just like that…we have a fabulous new piece!!!
This piece could be used as an accent table or a small desk. It measures in at
30” w x 20” d x 30” h ( 38” h top of backsplash)
What a great way to decorate your home with little piece of history!

This Vintage Ball and Claw Antique Buffet was manufactured by the “George C Flint Furniture Company”. Through some research I found From the internet: “One of the best-known furniture makers in New York in the 19th Century, George C. Flint opened his impressive showroom in 1868 at No. 106 West 14th Street, surrounded by other grand emporiums. Within ten years he would have a workshop No. 154 West 19th Street and a leased warehouse at No. 304 West Street. Flint’s key to success was to provide the public with attractive, up-to-date designs at affordable prices.”
I purchased this piece from a home in Newton and literally it has sat in my shop for almost 5 years waiting patiently to be refinished. Because of its size I was delayed in my endeavor.
But, a couple weeks ago I was driven to give this piece a new look so I started by sanding down the top and all the drawer faces. Once the veneer was sanded I opted to burn it to add some depth and character. All the refinished wood was then sealed in Minwax Polyurethane in Warm Satin. Next I painted the remainder or the buffet in black and then lightly distressed and sealed the entire piece.
This antique gem is large which makes it a great piece for storage and also for serving due to its height. If you have a dining room and want a unique piece that eliminates that unwanted China cabinet then I would suggest you take a look at this beauty!
This buffet measures in at
66 1/4” w x 25 1/4” d (center scallop) x 40 1/2” h
There are four dovetailed drawers, a center liquor bottle storage drawer, two swing door areas and the bottom drawer which spans across the entire length of the piece.

First step was to sand down that well loved top. It was then stained in Minwax Honey with dark accents created with General Finishes Java Gel. I then sealed it in several coats of Minwax Polyurerhane Satin. Next was to paint the bottom in DB Manatee Gray and lightly distress. The painted areas were then sealed followed by GF Van Dyke Brown Glaze to give it a nice aged patina. The drawer hardware was switched out for a nice cup pull from D. Lawless Hardware and lined with Waverly Fabric.

For whatever reason this table gave me a sense of like uptown city glitzy style or upscale condo living so I decided to follow that feeling.
First was to sand off all that old dark stained pine and bring out the light wood grain. I did need to add a chalked white wash to give it an even lighter look and then I sealed it with a couple coats of Minwax Polyacrylic in Ultra Flat. The bottom metal base was sprayed in Rust-Oleum Paint and Primer Metallic Gold.

I recently refinished this wonderful Tilt-Top Pie Crust Table with ball and claw feet made by The Ferguson Bros Furniture company. I found information about the business on “The Online Collection by The Hoboken Museum “:
“Ferguson Brothers Manufacturing Company (founded 1878 in New York City) was was wholesale manufacturer of furniture and accessories located in Hoboken from 1900 until the business closed in 1945. Large factory at Eighth and Monroe Sts., mailing address 832 Monroe St.
Wholesale makers of domestic and office wood furniture in many types and styles, but also made some novelty items as well as goods for other trades such as slide specimen storage boxes..Also used the marking: F.B.M. Co.”
The too was sanded down to the original veneer which consisted of four sheets and actually is lighter in one half in comparison with the other side but I think it gives it even more character. The ornate base with carved ball and claw feet was painted in rich black and then everything was sealed in Minwax Polyurethane in Warm Satin. I did not paint the underside of the table to save the label.
The top of the table easily latches from the flat position and smoothly flips up into the
vertical position. This is great if your limited on space and do not want to use the table top full time. This piece measures 24” round by 28” h.

I just finished up this fun Repurpose Project! I mean honestly, the thought of any piece of furniture being dumped in a landfill just drives me crazy. Solid wood furniture is meant to last the test of time so even when these pieces have been bruised, battered and worn I believe we still can find other purposes for them. This was the case with this sad desk!
One of Peter’s coworkers (Thank you sooo much Marci) asked if I wanted this desk and of course I said yes sight unseen. I was thrilled to see when it arrived it was solid pine but it was quite beat up and the center drawer was missing so I decided to just completely dissemble it and set the wood aside for another day. Well that day came this week when I envisioned a nice clean straight lined almost MCM desk. So I sanded that beautiful top down, ordered some Pin legs and used the lower back apron as an additional shelf. After sanding I wanted to just keep the natural wood look so I seal coated it in General Finishes Dead flat Top coat. I also found some old shelf brackets in my stash of junk and was able to use them to lift up and secure the shelf…plus in the process maintain a nice clean black metal design.
This desk offers so much space. Measuring out at 48” w x 27” d x 29” h (32” h shelf). You have plenty of room for your laptop, phone, some smalls and even a lamp. If your looking for a nice clean piece with that nostalgic look and sleek lines then look no further. I’m sorry I had to use one of my vintage chairs for staging. Unfortunately I didn’t have any MCM on Hand

But these type of pieces are my favorite for repurposing into Blue Line Flag tables so I knew I had to at least try to resuscitate it!!!
For starters I had to work on those poor legs. I needed to tighten, glue and Brad nail all of them securely to the top. Next was to sand down the top, lower ties and legs. I decided to heavily burn the perimeter of both the top and lower tier then clear coat. The rest of the piece was hand painted in Midnight Sky (Rich deep blue) then heavily distressed. Last was to add that beautiful Blue Line Flag to the top!!!
This table measures in at 20” square by 29”h
It would make a unique and thoughtful Christmas Present for that Couragous Police Officer in your family!!!

Hey Friends!!! So listen, I finally finished repurposing this vintage solid wood Dropleaf
coffee table. And you may ask “but why repurpose it”? Because I felt it just sat too
low for a coffee table but would make a great bench!!! Who knows how my artistic brain works on a daily basis but for some reason this was the creative journey I was carried on so I just followed!!! Sometimes creativity is your most therapeutic option!
So this piece needed to be taken apart and basically cut several times so the back drop
Leaf would sit nicely on the seat. The faces were sanded down to the raw veneer and then stained in General Finishes Java Gel. The back rest, legs and edges were painted in GF Perfect Gray and then lightly distressed and topped with brown wax. The entire piece was sealed in Minwax polyurethane . I was able to nicely secure the backrest with sturdy steal L brackets. The final touch was adding a damask decoupage paper bought from Flipping FabulousKS
to the backrest and front drop groove. It seemed to make the whole piece pop with grays, blues and rich shades of brown. I think my favorite part of this bench is that you can lift the leg rest up and store baskets underneath to store shoes or scarves and hats.
This piece would be perfect in an entrance hallway or mud room. You could hang some hooks or a coat rack above it and be set!!!

I found this piece over the weekend. It is so unique and in the home I bought it from it rested against a wall under a large mirror. It looked so amazing. I have staged it as a bench but I also think it could be a low entranceway table like as displayed in the home I found it. I love the deeply detailed carved legs and the rustic detail. Unfortunately I have no idea how old this piece is…but I just fell in love.
Once I got it back to my shop I thoroughly scrubbed it up and just added a shellac seal to the natural wood. I really didn’t feel it needed anymore thanthat. No paint was going to touch this Beauty!

Just finished up this unique Vintage Solid Wood Corner Cabinet! As you remember this piece showed up on my porch, rescued from a kind friend, in all its blue and white glory
So of course, I couldn’t walk away, I knew this piece had some potential and so the process began.
I had found some amazing floral paper on Amazon and knew in the back of my mind that I wanted to paint it in Hampton Olive so luckily it all matched. I did sand down the shelves to wood and then black
Chalk painted one aside and did the underside in Sand Bar so you can flip the shelves if you want a different look. Those shelves were sealed in Minwax Polyurethane Ultra Flat. The door was very also very flat with no character so I opted to cut some trim work and create a panel. I used an ornate floral stencil with a combination of colors from the floral paper to tie everything together. To finish everything off I was so blessed to find that I had hidden a solid brass drop pull which worked perfectly!!!
What I love most about a Corner Cabinet
Is that they take up very little floor space but are able to store quite a bit. Such a useful piece of furniture! This piece measures in at

This beautiful Antique (walnut I think) Drop Leaf Worm Wood Table has been refinished and is looking for a new home. It was hard to make the choice to sell this beauty but I honestly have no space in my home. I purchased this piece a few weeks back and was instantly drawn to the wood grain and all those amazing little worm holes. I feel when you find a piece like this it really tells you it’s age and also creates such character.
The original finish was in pretty sad shape with water and ink stains along with peeling varnish. I had planned on sanding the top and then painting those beautiful turned legs BUT once I stared sanding I just couldn’t believe the beautiful wood…the paint option was immediately removed from my plans. So the next and final step was to apply several coats of Minwax Polyurthane in warm Satin. ImmediTely the grain popped and boy did it turn out gorgeous! The table underneath has been completely reinforced by the previous owner and it still has the original pegged pull arms to support the leaves. The drawer has a new base and opens and closes easily.
I did stage the table with a dining chair so you could see it’s size. Just remember it’s old so the apron is rather low. I also thing it would make a wonderful accent table, hallway table or even an island work space.
